(Have you read Part 2 of my Reading Week yet? =])
I previously did a rather extensive haul on Korean beauty products back in September. Walking around Pacific Mall, I also decided to include photos of the actual storefronts this time around. WOOHOO!! After what seemed to be the longest trek through academic affairs EVER (which we all know isn't true, since exams and final projects are gradually creeping up on us), it is FINALLY Reading Week!! Seriously, it felt like forever since I've had a weekend where I didn't have to worry about forgetting to finish something in time for the next week. *sigh of relief* Well, technically, I still have work to do, with the majority of it being put towards catching up on three weeks-worth of structural statics and mechanics lessons...OH BOY. But anyways, since the class lucked out of not having to attend a lab (due to a pipe bursting and flooding the lab area/room), I officially started my Reading Week on Thursday night. Man Doo Hyang (만두향 ) it was! ^ ^ Man, they actually used to be so much better =P (I think they switched owners some few years ago.)
I happened to really be craving multigrain rice, while my mom wanted the beef bone soup. However, we all decided that it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to try out some of the other items on the menu.

Yep. This place is so amazing that it deserves a post of its own! And no, I'm not being sarcastic at all. It really IS amazing. Having only opened for 2 weeks, the place is bustling with people, placing orders of various teppanyaki dishes and cute dessert items.
The food was served on hot plates, limiting photography time as to prevent burning of the meat in residual heat. We were instructed to flip the meat over immediately so that both sides would be evenly cooked.
I personally loved my salmon teppan-pasta; not only were the noodles perfect (soft, but not mushy), the herb sauce was light yet still creamy (with a kick of aroma from the dill)! The dessert was also this crazy work of gustatory art: the Black Sesame Panna Cotta was composed of two layers of panna cotta - one milky, and one sweet with an appropriate amount of sesame, sugar, and vanilla mixture. On top of that, an additional layer of sesame dessert paste was spooned on top of the panna cotta to create an original, monochromatic gradient effect.
This was seriously amazing stuff. Everything was perfect - from the satisfying teppanyaki lunches to the airy, flavourful panna cotta for dessert, and from the kind waiters to the clean, individual washroom, I can confirm that Aka Teppan is a location worth returning to, especially since I have yet to test out the rest of their extensive dessert menu (Hokkaido Milk Pudding? Oh,yes. "Flower Pot" Tiramisu that comes in three flavours? OMG YES.)! (^ ▽ ^)
For Part 3 of Reading Week, please see here! ^ _ ^ / I have no idea why I didn't post these on Chinese New Year Day. They were actually all edited and resized immediately after being taken since they had to be sent over to Vancouver for the rest of the fam to see. Chinese New Year Day basically consisted of going to the temple (no, I'm not Buddhist) for New Year festivities during the afternoon and an approximately 2.5 hour-long Facetime session with my family on the other side of the country. |
