[Daily Randoms] The Weekend After

3/30/2014

The weekend following an extremely work-intensive week usually ends up being extremely unproductive. Perhaps the lack of mental energy is the cause of this, though it could simply be a different mental state called laziness instead.

Either way, here are some weekend visuals!

I've been wanting to invest a new blush/bronzer/contouring palette for AGES and was absolutely ecstatic when I got my hands on NARS' "NARSISSIST" travel-sized cheek trio, Though I have not had a chance to evaluate the included shades properly, I did find that the brush was breathtakingly amazing - it's light, yet contours exceptionally well. But like all Sephora products, this one was on the pricier side.
At the checkout, this pack of Limited Edition Pink Peppermint blotting sheets by boscia also caught my eye, so it was tossed into the basket as well. The perfume was redeemed using the Beauty Insider points I've collected up till now.

Since I was also running low on face mist, it seemed to be a good idea to invest in a new one. The one shown above is the Herb Water Powder Mist from The Face Shop, which can supposedly be used by those with dry or oily skin on one's face before or after makeup application. (I've given it a few quick spritzes, though it seems to spray in a straight line as opposed to diffusing out. But we'll see how it turns out.)

Out & About #18 | 3.22.2014 - Collective Bubble Tea Photos + Randoms

3/22/2014

I get the feeling I talk about food way too much. And it's no surprise that I also have more photos of food than people on my camera(s) and phone.

But yeah, school is putting me through living hell right now (believe it or not, we have AT LEAST one assignment/lab/quiz/midterm/final project/presentation to submit or prepare for for each day of the coming week. I am fully aware of the fact that my life is just SO awesome right now.).

And since I tend to crumble under stress (already suffered a mental breakdown last weekend due to my structural mechanics lab), I've decided to just procrastinate for the time being (LOVELY idea, I know) and post a few photos that have been lying around on my desktop for the duration of this month.

Out & About #17 | The Apricot Tree Cafe

3/20/2014

The Apicot Tree Cafe - I had been dying to try this place out over Reading Week with a close friend of mine but unfortunately never got the chance to.

This time around, I not only got to try out their Crepe Fest menu, but also take some seriously foodgawker/Pinterest-worthy shots of their desserts!

Little Things

3/13/2014

This is going to be a fairly quick post - my structural mechanics lab and dynamics midterm are eagerly on standby, anticipating the moment when they can devour me whole and rid my soul of any remaining optimism.

But yeah, let's put aside that there's an insane amount of work to be done and appreciate the little things in life that can do a complete 180 on your day.

I was craving something sweet and slightly crunchy after lunch so I stopped by Timmies on campus to get a few Timbits, ordering two Chocolate Snows and one Sour Cream Glazed. After paying and requesting the lady for a receipt, I opened the bag and realized that the amount of Timbits present in the bag was actually DOUBLE the amount I ordered! She had given me FOUR Chocolate Snows and TWO Sour Cream Glazed! And not charged me anything extra!

What a sweetie =') She just totally made my day! ❤
Picture
The above photo shows the three Timbits remaining after I had munched the additional three that she had added.

If you recall, one of my first posts ever mentioned a Second Cup barista's amazing memory of her customers. She had made my day so memorable that I was giddy all the way home.

Today was the same. The Timmy's cashier was just so sweet that I couldn't help but smile during the entire trip to my (long, dreaded) tutorial, and after class as well ^ ω ^

Perhaps such a small action may not seem much to many, but to those who are having a bad day (or week), these little things are genuinely effective in boosting optimism. And it's the thoughtfulness that makes all the difference.

[Out & About 16] Munching in Markham + More Korean Beauty Products?!

3/1/2014

After being welcomed back from reading week an incredulous amount of assignments and lab reports, in addition to one painfully depressing structures midterm, I took Saturday off to relax in Markham.

Well, not really.

Technically, it's not "relaxing"; it can be described more accurately as "going to physio and just eating lunch after".

As I finished my physio treatment much earlier than my mom (and yes, we both go to physio place but she has more frequent appointments than I do), I decided to go buy egg waffles to munch on before lunch.

Before having lunch, I requested a quick stop at Tony Moly. I had preordered the Panda's Dream So Cool cooling stick during my previous trip and had to retrieve it before the 2-week hold period was over. I also picked up two Baby Skin Heel Patches and a Peeling Liquid mask as I've noticed my heels have been cracking in a most disturbing way due to the harsh winter weather.
