For the next 20-or-so minutes, I'm going to disregard (or temporarily forget about) my three midterms that I really should be studying for. Instead, I will enlighten you on Chinese New Year Eve events that took place today. 1) Lion Dance + game booths by various Chinese clubs @ uni (Video to come) So school is officially back in session now.
...and I've never felt so overwhelmed in my life. (Or maybe I have but clearly don't remember it well enough to compare the experience(s).) Seriously though, how do we already start worrying about midterms in the first week? And about labs and quizzes and all the other things we must accomplish before April? GEEZ. I really should be reading up on mechanics right now. And for the first time since September, I actually feel guilty that I'm not doing just that (ie. defeating the beast that is PROCRASTINATION, or at least making an attempt to do so =P). But as two new pairs of pants have already been ruined as a result of trudging through mud-laden, ice/slush-covered regions around campus, I set myself on a mission this weekend to locate a taller pair of durable boots to mediate the situation (and save myself from looking like I just went jumping through puddles formed from sewage water - UGH. GROSS, I KNOW OTL). After physio in Markham (I now only have to visit every 3-4 weeks! Yay!), my parents dropped me off at First Markham Place to pick up a few things while they had lunch. (Future Note to self: Do an FMP Shopping Guide.) As if we hadn't eaten out enough already, we went out for lunch and dinner again on the 31st. First stop was Cactus Club Cafe in downtown Vancouver, right next to the Olympic Cauldron. In the morning, we stopped by Cobs Bread and picked up some seriously amazing scones. No really. They were seriously amazing. Like, I tried a bit of the gingerbread scone samples they had sitting atop the glass display case and was instantly sold. Shown L to R above: Gingerbread Scone (SO amazing), Berry White Chocolate Scone (which wasn't as sweet as I expected it to be, so that's even better), and Fruit Scone (THE BEST original flavour!).
In addition to these scones, they also had a savoury spinach and feta one, though we didn't get a chance to try that. Besides baked goods such as scones, muffins, danishes, and cinnamon rolls, Cobs Bread has an even larger selection of breads, including a high fibre loaf. Though we were kind of short on time when making our purchase, we'll definitely go back to try more of their products in the future ^ ^ Back in August, my uncle and aunt brought me and my grandparents to Kamei Royale for some a crazy sushi dinner. This time around, it was a huge family dinner with a lot more food. |
