It's quite a shame that the food and decor didn't really compliment each other all that well though.
Lunching in Markham has now become part of my post-physio treatment routine now. And this time, my mom wanted to try out Beef Noodle King, which is just behind the First Markham Place plaza.
Upon entering, the first thing I noticed was the interior deco; it was rather unique for a Taiwanese restaurant: quilted velvet booths and simple printed walls that gave off a modern aura with a nod towards a classic vintage theme. To be extra saavy and laptop-user-friendly, there were plugs underneath almost each booth and free Wi-Fi to boot.
It's quite a shame that the food and decor didn't really compliment each other all that well though. So this is my first rant. Like ever. Made visible to the public for whoever wishes to view it.
And maybe I'll regret writing this a day from now. Yeah, I probably will. And will I take it down? Maybe. And maybe not. For those that know me, you'll know that I'm all about time efficiency. My undying determination to pursue a career in transportation planning is all because of time efficiency. Plainly stated: I HATE ANYONE/ANYTHING THAT WASTES MY TIME. Yes, I'm aware that "hate" is a strong word. And yes, I do feel the need to use in this context. (I mean, it's a rant! Where else would I use it?) So let's get on to what's actually annoying me enough to get me blogging instead of reading over water treatment notes and prepping for numerical analysis (ahhhh my two most favourite courses ever. Sense my sarcasm there? ;D). ...Hmmm on second thought, how bout let's NOT go into details. Cuz, well, I've had to repeat myself at least 4 times to people today in the form of an oral rant to keep my insides contained within their respective organs. And we surely don't want anything messy happening, am I right? So in place of a stormy, anger-management-issue-esque blow-up of a post, I'll just sum it up into a few shorter paragraphs. And I'll be careful not to mention any names/entities that happened to piss me off a considerable amount today - you know, cuz, they might even feel GUILTY reading this. (Inner voice: Pffft. Yeah RIGHT, girl) Generally, I don't like the term "haul" simply because it implies consumers spending unnecessary amounts of their earnings on a copious amount of things they could really do without in life. But we'll just make this an exception. Just this once. Since this will probably be the largest amount of money I'll spend on skincare and beauty products until...my next Vancouver trip, which I anticipate won't be until Christmas. *wink wink* Like every Saturday, I dragged myself out of bed early in the morning to dress myself in preparation for physio in Markham. And since classwork is still pretty much nonexistent until next week, I asked my mom if we could go to P-Mall (Pacific Mall for non-GTA-ers) so I could pick up a few things before school "officially" starts. And yes, THIS is what I ended up taking home with me at the end of today. But not without some samples that the salespeople threw in.
With school starting and all, I've kind of been pushing this post for a while now (not to mention totally neglecting Quirky Aesthetics LOL) But yeah, since I don't have any active classes tomorrow, I figured that it'd probably be best to get them all done NOW. So let's move on! HallyuCon Toronto was a rather small-scale event held at the Korean Canadian Cultural Centre on August 31, 2013. Targeted toward the K-Pop-loving fans of Toronto, and organized by the Toronto Korean Music Group (TKMG), the event involved booths being set up in a tight, wooden-floored space of no more than 300 square feet, plus a stage reminiscent of those used for high school play performances. There were probably a total of about 10 booths, each selling merchandise from a different K-Pop group or company. These booths were set up by volunteers; certain artists that didn't have booths dedicated to them as there weren't enough volunteers to start one. After going for physio in Markham, me and my mom (I am completely aware that this is incorrect grammar, though I find that this is the way that I find most comfortable when writing on a personal level.) went for lunch at Sushi Mori in the First Markham Place plaza. According to my mom, the bibimbap was quite bland. (Side note: our family tends to lean more towards bland foods in general but even I thought the bibimbap was rather tasteless after trying a bite.) In comparison, my cold noodles were...alright. The soup was made to be on the sour side to balance out the oiliness of the kalbi; the noodles just tasted like...well, noodles boiled in water with a pinch of salt. Neither dish was particularly spectacular. Though I do have to comment on the service: the waitresses were friendly and came to check up on us every so often.
