But then again, Taiwan embraces Japanese culture very thoroughly (maybe that why?).
On our second day back from Asia, my third uncle took us out to Taiwanese food. Why anyone would name a Taiwanese stir-fry restaurant the slang Japanese term for "seriously" or "very", I have no idea.
But then again, Taiwan embraces Japanese culture very thoroughly (maybe that why?). Since I had slept for most of the duration of the 10-hour flight back to Vancouver, I was pretty much wide awake until 5 AM on the night that we arrived.
Needless to say, I was more than just a bit tired by the end of the day when my second uncle took us out to sushi in Steveston for dinner. After a week of intense shopping and sightseeing, we embarked on our flight back to Vancouver, but not without having breakfast first.
It was quite a rare occurrence throughout the vacation, but there did happen to be one day where we woke up in time for a proper breakfast. Taiwanese congee side dishes have quite an interesting flavour.
As mentioned before, celebrity ads are basically everywhere in Asia; Kimberley was spotted on the MTR on the way to SOGO. On the fifth floor, we also happened to chance across a particularly good-looking model and his partner modelling for MIDO watches.
< Continuing from PART 1 > As ATT 4 Fun happened to be conveniently located right across from the Taipei 101 Observatory, I only needed to cross the street before I was able to experience everything that the somewhat-new mall had to offer.
< Continuing from PART 2 >
To finish off a basically perfect day of walking and sightseeing, a buffet that was heavily based on desserts was quite an amazing treat. On our third day, we headed off to the place that I had been eagerly anticipating since the moment exams had finished: Ximending.
I took the MRT for the first time in Taiwan. For lunch on our second day (jet lag led to the skipping of breakfast), we headed up to the seventh floor (or was it the eighth?) of Hankyu to try out a restaurant called Kai Fun (written as 開飯, which is Chinese for starting a meal) a little around 1 PM.
On our 8th (?) day in Asia, we flew from Hong Kong to Taiwan, making a short stop at the EVA lounge before boarding. But before heading towards the lounge, I made a quick trip around the stores they had at the Hong Kong airport. That white polo reminded me of Jackson's fencing uniform. XD (Now if only the 18 was changed to 852...)
