[The Intense Summer] TAIWAN DAY 6

It was quite a rare occurrence throughout the vacation, but there did happen to be one day where we woke up in time for a proper breakfast. Taiwanese congee side dishes have quite an interesting flavour.

After breakfast, I set out on a grand adventure to explore the area and see what local shops had to offer.

Many of these stores were actually located in narrow alleyways with poor air circulation - the Presotea location was the only modern-looking thing in the alley it was located in.

After a good amount of walking around, the humidity became a bit too much for me and I headed toward Shinkong Mitsukoshi to cool off.

But little did I know that the incredibly high levels of humidity were due to 台風, and that thunderstorm season in Taiwan was not to be taken lightly.

Within minutes of the sky greying, small droplets started falling.

And then the rain hit.

Midway between a Mitsukoshi and a nearby hotel, I ducked into a well air-conditioned commercial building to dry myself off. Not having brought an umbrella, I was at an utter loss as to how I was going to make it to Mitsukoshi.
But having no other options available, I ran from pillar to pillar, ducking underneath all the roofs that I possibly could until finally reaching the building(s).

A taste-testing street festival had been set up in the square, and promotions were being held. But given that I was powerless without an umbrella, I found myself diving through Mitsukoshi A9's doors instead.

After gushing over the larger-than-life-sized banners of the boys and coming to the conclusion that the rain would propagate for at least another while, there wasn't much left to do but take a quick tour of the building.
