By mid-week, frustrations had flourished to peak levels. The head was throbbing, heart pounding, and eyes trembling. In a desperate attempt to recover wellness (and sanity), I resorted to replacing my regular cardio routine with cycling. It served as the milder alternative to dance, which possessed the potential to worsen existing AC joint injuries.
For someone who is constantly working, I tend to have many stories to tell. Beyond daily doses of irritation, annoyance, and disrespect, it is not uncommon to be caught off guard by the fundamental responsibilities of a mannerly citizen and contributing member of society. Monday morning saw the assembly of blue sky bran muffins (for freezable/future breakfasts) and, with the federal election around the corner, taking advantage of the last day of Advance Polls. Smile Cookies were back for a limited time, and I couldn't resist picking up my first few to tie me over until the latter half of the week. Icing was noted to be muted this time around, and decidedly thicker (ie. prone to accidental indentation). Less tacky than standard icing sugar, detachment was also not uncommon. Meals of the week comprised of leftovers, Congee Queen takeout, and impromptu Thai Milk Tea from Chatime (as delivery fees had been waived until the 21st). From the last LCBO run, I had obtained JUICEBOX Raspberry Lemonade, an invigorating formula reflective of its name. Notes of raspberry lemonade were slightly artificial - think Kool-Aid - but nonetheless delicious and distinct. I had undertaken a similar route last week, but had veered from my original path. Determined to complete the untravelled portion of Culham Trail this time around, I sped along Burnhamthorpe and glided down to the parking lot of Riverwood Conservation. From there, the trail grew muddy, not unpredictably so given the previous night's raging thunderstorm, then transitioned to large pieces of aggregate. The bumpy down hill path led me underneath the Credit River overpass, swiftly bypassing the Cultham Trail northbound entrance I retraced my tracks uphill, only to find the planned passage closed due to safety hazards. Again, the scene ought have been anticipated. Even traversing along the river in the residential trails, higher water levels had been observed. Moreoever, the currents were muddy than they were clear, foreshadowing washouts by the riverline. Post-thunderstorm biking on saturated soil entailed muddy splatters from all directions. Weaving around sizable puddles was made easier on wheels, though speed and momentum agitated the grimy granulars underneath. My southbound detour led me to Erindale Park. There was the option of continuing on broken trails, which would eventually lead back to the direction of home. However, sunset was nearing and availability of illumination was in jeopardy. A tiring uphill ride on sidewalk led me back to the arterials, where I continued on MUPs and rutting-impacted asphalt. Sneaking onto my radar are early conceptions for Halloween-inspired creations; Dollarama has pioneered the decor, and Kernels has brought back Very Scary. Access to Monsters At Work has recently been granted. The episodes have been incorporated into my weekly watching roster alongside Sejun's nonsensical Those That Want to Catch and 120-minute episodes of Street Woman Fighter. Sulley acts as the ideal companion for the Pixar series, while rehab exercises escort me through the lengthier programs.
