Out & About #398 | Christmas Shopping Visuals

12/7/2017

It's that time of year again. (♪ Hear those sleigh bells, jingle jangle ♫)

And the current temperatures are a pretty convincing indication of the upcoming holiday season. We've even seen some snowfall as well.

Malls have filled with antsy Christmas shoppers, both young and old. Some look to get in and out with as little hassle as possible, while other dally on their decisions amidst the bustle and chaos. Families with small children are Santa-seekers; middle-aged women become privolous spenders.
The holiday season is nothing but frustration and anxiety for frequent online shoppers such as myself, though shipping tends to be delayed when order volume is high, prompting even those in deep hibernation to take grueling steps outside the house to ensure presents are secured in time.

Besides the sudden influx of mall-walkers, I quite enjoy the festivities and joyous aura. Decorations are always pleasant, as are toasty holiday-themed beverages such as Creme Brulee Lattes (and the occasional Peppermint Mocha).

Some of my Christmas duties involved a quick set of downtown errands, so I made it a point to pick up a copy of < 7 for 7 > Taiwanese version that a friend had graciously scoured several eslites in Taipei for.

A Hot Wintermelon Latte from Gong Cha was also had, then later a cup of Sloane Chocolate Truffle and Black Sesame Souffle Cheesecake at Millie.

Chocolate-infused black tea is winner in my books, combining caffeination with a suitable dosage of sweetness. The Black Sesame Soufflé Cheesecake boasted a wonderfully smooth vanilla beam frosting which, albeit a bit satiating at times, was enhanced when consumed alongside the mousse-like cake layers. The supposed cheesecake layers were airy with a minimal percentage of cheesiness, though nonetheless enjoyable. The bottom-most layer firmer than preferred, but perhaps the dessert was constructed in such a way to ensure stability.
Being one of the few remaining pieces, it was a tad dry, contributing greater resistance to prying.

A trip to M Brand's most recent franchise at Yonge and Wellesley resulted in the discovery of an Apeach sticky note set, a very amusing store attendant, as well as a new cushion foundation from Etude House.

Holographic surfaces definitely seems to be the ongoing trend in K-beauty packaging (and fan slogans).
