Little Things

3/13/2014

This is going to be a fairly quick post - my structural mechanics lab and dynamics midterm are eagerly on standby, anticipating the moment when they can devour me whole and rid my soul of any remaining optimism.

But yeah, let's put aside that there's an insane amount of work to be done and appreciate the little things in life that can do a complete 180 on your day.

I was craving something sweet and slightly crunchy after lunch so I stopped by Timmies on campus to get a few Timbits, ordering two Chocolate Snows and one Sour Cream Glazed. After paying and requesting the lady for a receipt, I opened the bag and realized that the amount of Timbits present in the bag was actually DOUBLE the amount I ordered! She had given me FOUR Chocolate Snows and TWO Sour Cream Glazed! And not charged me anything extra!

What a sweetie =') She just totally made my day! ❤

The above photo shows the three Timbits remaining after I had munched the additional three that she had added.

If you recall, one of my first posts ever mentioned a Second Cup barista's amazing memory of her customers. She had made my day so memorable that I was giddy all the way home.

Today was the same. The Timmy's cashier was just so sweet that I couldn't help but smile during the entire trip to my (long, dreaded) tutorial, and after class as well ^ ω ^

Perhaps such a small action may not seem much to many, but to those who are having a bad day (or week), these little things are genuinely effective in boosting optimism. And it's the thoughtfulness that makes all the difference.
