[wandering in wonderland] VANCOUVER DAY 6

8/17/2013

(Recap of Day 6 written on Day 8 is as follows~)

I had a dream that night. A dream about finally finding the perfect red jacket for my cosplay - a blazer with the right cutting and with buttons of the perfect rusted gold tone positioned at all the right places.

Then I woke up.

Ahhhh so it was a dream after all huh?

My aunt actually had the day off so on Day 6, she took my downtown to Pacific Centre on the Canada Line.
I was ecstatic to finally (FINALLY!!!!) find my red/burgundy blazer at H&M, along with a discounted black quilted backpack. So I guess the blazer didn't have the EXACT same tailoring or design, but with AR creeping up on me, I needed something similar fast. And the H&M blazer did the trick at a fairly good price of $24.95. (Though I have to say that I was quite appalled to discover through e-newsletter that starting yesterday (aka Day 7) through September 4th, the store would be having a 15% off discount for all students and teachers. "OTL. But since the transportation costs are practically equal to the amount I'd be saving, I decided it wasn't worth it to re-buy the items.)

While we were in Pacific Centre, I decided that it'd be a good chance to check out Topshop, as we wouldn't be getting one in Square One until October.

Although my original plan was to save up for when Topshop did open in Square One, I found that to be completely unnecessary after wandering around every inch of the store: the clothes were seriously overpriced (like, $70 for a fleece sweater. Are you kidding me?! I could get one at Wal-Mart for 5 bucks! Ok so it'd be less patterned and cute-motif-less, but a 1200% markup is NOT cool.)
And despite being categorized into Tall, Petite, Maternity, Reduced, etc., the floor layout was very disorganized and I could feel myself drowning in loss of direction amidst the sea of clothes (O _ o).
The store felt like a more expensive and more expensive Forever 21 selling H&M-style merchandise with an English vintage doll twist. The only thing that was truly my style were the higher than higher (maybe ~ 3-inch) platform cutout boots that were $150 over my budget.

Needless to say, I won't be checking out Topshop again anytime soon.

Last stop of the day was Roots on Robson St. And by that time my feet were killing me to the point where not limping wasn't really an option anymore. We headed back shortly after that.

And that was all for Day 6!!
