[The Intense Summer] VANCOUVER DAY 9

7/19/2014

Woot!  What an eventful day!

While most of the afternoon was spent helping my third uncle's family with a garage sale, I was very fortunate to be able to attend the MiniComi artist gallery market held at Olympic Village, even if it was only for an hour.

But let's begin with garage sale photos!
(By the way, this garage is still going on tomorrow - Sunday July 21st - so check it out if you're in the Richmond area!!)
Following the garage sale, I was lucky enough to receive a ride to MiniComi, a one-day comic market taking place at Olympic Village (with free admission!).

It wasn't immediately obvious that an anime-related event was taking place at Olympic Village when we first arrived.
But sure enough, cosplayers and photographers started flooding the area as we neared the doors of the small indoor gallery area.

I honestly found it quite amazing that there were so many people dressed in cosplay for such a short event! MiniComi wasn't even a convention, and was only being held today from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Yet there were still a pretty good number of artists selling their work, and more cosplays that I could possibly count for such a small group!

The Vancouver anime-loving community is amazing. (Geez, why aren't people this passionate back home?) > ^ <)

Since I was only able to stop by for an hour, the number of photos I took is quite limited, but I'll be sharing the ones I was able to capture with my point-and-shoot (big camera already went home with les parents~) here nonetheless!
My happiest moment was when I spotted a Sora cosplayer (haha); it was the first cosplay I saw upon arriving and it was quite amusing to see him wail about losing his Shiro.
(Side note: Contrary to popular belief, it is still quite difficult to find cosplay items even in Asia. I searched for No Game No Life items all throughout my Hong Kong and Taiwan trips but was disappointed to discover that basically all cosplays operate online only now, with very little difference in costume pricing.)

I ended up purchasing three Free! pins, two Free! poster poster prints, and a set of 4 tea bag-inspired bookmarks.

The posters are fairly large and too annoying to take photos of in low light conditions, so I've linked to the original artwork on the artist's pixiv account!

I also passed by a Starbucks Refreshers booth, but it was closed by the time we finished at the comic market. I ended getting a Peach Green Tea Lemonade at the next closest one instead.

Since I had eaten the remaining leftovers from Cattle Cafe for lunch, I just threw together whatever was in the fridge for dinner. In today's case, it was washed romaine hearts, strawberries, cherries, corn, and a few sprinkles of mozzarella cheese.

And so concludes today's events!
