Out & About #83 | spin Dessert Cafe & Bistro (Mississauga Location)

4/26/2015

Going to spin after an extremely hectic day at work was a total treat.
I first discovered the Dessert Cafe when my friends had posted photos after dining at one of their locations in Toronto. When I found out that they had plans to open up a franchise in Mississauga, I just knew that I had to drop by for a taste. (I mean, how could someone with such a massive sweet tooth resist?)

spin is located at the corner of one of the new buildings near Square One. Parking is very limited, and also requires to be paid by the hour (meter parking). But as the restaurant is situated only a few minutes from the theatre, parking at Famous Players and walking over was an easy way to avoid having to pay.

One thing I've learned to appreciate is widely-spaced out tables in a restaurant. There's something about being in close proximity with other restaurant-goers that makes the whole dining experience err on the awkward side.
The tables at spin were large and comfortable, with enough space in between each one to have a decent conversation with the person(s) across from/beside you without overhearing the juicy details of the next table over. I also appreciated we were given a table near a somewhat diffused light source.

After taking in the environment and having a good long look at the menu, the above dishes were ordered. The Chicken Pesto Pizza appeared rather greasy (which it was), but the generous amount of mozzarella made up for that. I also enjoyed how the pieces of chicken breast weren't hard as a result of being overcooked, as this was a common situation at most places. I only consumed half of the pizza, for obvious reasons.

Their dessert selection was pretty impressive - almost anything could be made into a sundae, crepe, or waffle, with the prices increasing ever so steadily with each option. I was craving a waffle, and the We Will Rock You Waffle won out.

I must say, coffee ice cream, toasted almonds, and chocolate drizzle is totally a match made in heaven.

My first spin experience was thoroughly satisfying: both the food and service were great! The only thing that might stop me from returning to the establishment more frequently would have to be their steep prices. (I mean, I love fancy desserts as much as the next girl, but there's a limit to how much us students can afford to spend on food.) Nonetheless, I'd love to go again for a special occasion!
