Out & About #722 | Week #67 Quarantine Update Feat. Cold Brew + Ice Cream

Where has the week gone?
Not spent catching up on comeback content, but adopting multiple roles as IT support, finance, H&S, and overall coordination.

As of the time of writing, BamBam has concluded two weeks' of promotions for first-ever solo "comeback". Youngjae and Yugyeom continue to promote through various mediums on the Internet, and Jinyoung is gearing up for The Devil Judge's first broadcast on July 3rd.

On the other side of the world is me, whose daily routine diverges minimally from cold brew to kickstart the work day. PC's Nitro Cold Brew and Sparkling Cold Brew in Ginger Beer and Yuzu Citrus have recently been discovered; readily were they incorporated into my routine during periods of peak productivity (read: not even a minute extra to spare for re-hydration or regular meals).

The odd afternoon would witness construction of a chilled beverage. First was a salted caramel latte, using some of the questionably droopy salted caramel sauce that had been retained from the (unsuccessful) Apple Frangipane Tart. I may have suffered a stomachache later that evening, hence the creation was not re-attempted.

A latter mint-less Orange-Lime-Ribena faux-jito proved much more enjoyable. Braised Pork and Radish is another item I eagerly welcome.

Concluding a drizzly, dreary work week was a terribly hurried trip to the post office, followed by a much-needed Brown Sugar Oolong Milk Tea w/ 2J from Gong Cha. A suggestion for 왕만두 was also regarded fondly, thus we proceeded onwards to Myungdong Kalguksu to secure simply that. Jjajangmyeon was also obtained during this visit.

Their enormous steamed dumplings are a consistent bearer of contentment, and, as it turned out, the restaurant's black bean noodles weren't half bad either! As straightforward as the dish may be, poor executions have been experienced on countless occasions. Myungdong Kalkguksu's edition could be depicted as adequately seasoned: chewy flour noodles with a chunky, meaty sauce, complete with danmuji and slivers of cucumber.

And, while garlicy and extremely pungent, the complimentary portion of kimchi was thoroughly savoured, being particularly memorable for its varied sections of gochu-smothered leaves and stems.

A trip to the northeast edge of the GTA led to a late lunch of McDonald's, Chatime (thank you ochungg), and high-definition views of a life-sized BamBam. (Hehe)

Not exempted from this long-winded journey was Markham's best LCBO - Hello, Rose Umeshu! - and Lucullus, where my adored Raisin Loaf was regrettably sold out for the day.

Creations of the week:

1) Pecan Butter, using toasted pecans from last week's Pecan Pie and granola

2) Coffee Ice Cream

The no-churn base took a decaffeinated detour, as stress-induced worries haunt my subconscious sufficiently. Splitting the batter without prior consultation with a scale unfortunately led to the formation of rather icy shards.
Picture
3) Key Lime Popsicles
Proposed by a moon-lover and inspired by SK, the remainder of the ice cream base was combined with the zest and juice of two plump limes.
Picture
Several were set in popsicle molds, with excess set in Styrofoam cups. The absence of yogurt led to an obscenely rich mouthfeel, with structural integrity questionable in the face of a high fat content.

They were delicious nontheless, but undoubtedly too creamy for our liking.
