4) Palgong (Distillery District)
With the exception of the Grapefruit Green Tea and their lack of a functioning faucet, Palgong - or rather, Two Nine - has never disappointed. The act of extending operations into the Distillery District came as an odd discovery me; nonetheless, I was determined to see the store for myself.

The journey felt longer than anticipated, and unbelievably hot despite the waterfront breeze. Instead of biting the bullet, I hopped onto the first TTC bus I spotted, which ultimately took me to George Brown's waterfront campus instead of my desired destination. I trekked the remainder of the way, making my arrival with prominent sweat droplets lining my forehead.

For the sake of sheer comparison, I took to an Original Milk Tea via Ritual. And as the system was devoid of a "less sugar" option, I promptly selected "No Sugar". Minutes later, I learned the direness of this decision. A plastic cup under my name was plopped onto the counter, within it containing a tacky, repulsive substance that I'd be perfectly fine with never tasting ever again. I searched for a wastebin, where it rightfully belonged, however those thoughts were dismissed as my wallet wailed in outright disagreement. I also couldn't stand the thought of wasting food.
To further escalate my displeasure, the $3.49 price tag had come exclusive of tapioca. I only later learned that the business was holding a 50% off promotion for in-store orders.

A small but sturdy collection of vendors assimilated early on Thursday morning, amongst them local bakeries, a produce stand, and even a few accessory shops. Vegan treats from Bloomer's, Thai Tea from Nam Wan, "artisinal products" were spotted while perusing the market over lunch hour.

We made a beeline for The Night Baker, who was retailing gourmet cookies at $2.75 apiece or $15 by the half dozen; the same in-store prices applied, but the Cookie Rewards sadly did not come into effect.
All but Ooh Bae were chosen for our total order of 18 (Yes, eighteen!!) cookies, simply due to the fact that we had visited in the fine shred of time before their inventory restock arrived.

The dense, buttery morsels were as deliriously delicious as I recalled, albeit in absence of the warm, fresh-out-of-the-oven aura achieved previously. My findings towards the Mistachio were consistent; the only note I'd like to append would be a distinct matcha deficiency. There was no bitterness to be found here.
Campfire Smores, Milk-n-Oreos, and Beggos were more or less the same in texture profile: chewy and a tad coarse - the preferred consistency if you ask me. The Classic regained reputation with a heavy handful of walnuts and decadent chocolate chips. It was a timeless piece I couldn't help reverting to after too many bites of Oreo.

Cookies were consumed in a gradual manner this time around, enabling cross sections to be captured. Once again, the contents of the box didn't last long. Even with its lid firmly secured, the allure was too forceful to resist!
