Out & About 536 | Partial March Visuals

Has half the month passed already? (My exam date is looming. Oh dear me.)
1) Onnuri
With the name change also came an updated menu. Thankfully, prices remained the same; the selection was similar, though the new focus seemed to lie with hot stone dishes (instead of solely on gamjatang).

2) At-Home Visuals Feat. Mixed Berry Jam Grilled Cheese
3) Cereal for the iron-deficient
4) My first cup of Mango Green Tea w/ Lychee Jelly since 2015, courtesy of a friendly former co-worker

5) Tip of the day: Wear long sleeves and trim your nails short prior to climbing.

Revisiting Hub in short sleeves earned me a nasty scrape. Also displayed are the consequences of when an elbow and door frame collide.

The facility has added a two-player Augmented Reality room since its Grand Opening, though gym apparatus has yet to acquire full functionality.

6) Orion's Squid Peanut snacks are my weakness, and there was no better time to stock up than P.A.T.'s limited time sale. (It was marked down to $2.99 from $4.59!!)
7) Attempts at dolsot donburi
8) Irvins Salted Egg Fish Skin, as gifted by stenoodie. Assuming ninety-nine percent of the average person's daily fat intake - and eighty-six percent cholestrol intake - this was a novelty snack from Southeast Asia whose popularity didn't quite resonate with me. Its profile was overly satiating without delivering much flavour nor texture. I'd gladly take Wonton Chai's Fried Fish Skin any day.

9) Along with the Blossoming Rose Tea Latte witnessing success in past years, Starbucks' spring lineup has been expanded to include a Black Sesame Tea Latte and two variations of a Cloud Macchiato. The former was average in highlighting the aromatic properties of roasted black sesame and overall excessively sweet (even at half-sugar).
10) On a hunt for my craft beer of choice

11) A Regular 3 Guys was obtained on a ridiculously mild March afternoon, after four milk tea-free weeks and exactly four-and-a-half weeks of no CoCo visits. I think I'm coping quite well so far.

12) More Hub! We've been diligently returning to conquer more routes; this time around, it was about tackling the Augmented Reality games.

The availability of customizing your own routes inevitably led to the creation of a GOT7 logo formation.

When I first signed up for Hub, I frankly wasn't expecting to get much use out of the limited duration pass. And even while I have yet to explore beyond the auto-belay system, I've become acquainted with several things:
  • Climbing isn't as intimidating of a sport as it may seem, even for those that are both physically weak and boast poor biomechanics.
  • There is versatility in climbing problems, and more than one solution exists.
  • The climbing community will not judge you based on your level of expertise, but instead welcome newbies with open arms, encouragement, and humbleness. "Spraying beta" isn't regarded highly, as one should attempt his or her own problem first before searching for alternatives, however sharing small tidbits of advice is generally well received.

Finally, if climbing has taught me anything, it's that not all problems can be solved at once.
At times, the issue is willpower; other times it may simply be the power of faith - believing in one's own capabilities. In most cases, it is not a matter of strength. The sport fuses technique and strategy, prompting one to utilize one's physical adeptness to his or her benefit. It was personally recognized as an outlet to think creatively, and how to identify potential paths in initially clouded circumstances.

Further details shall be reported with the conclusion of my one-month climbing pass!!
