Out & About #456 | Part 2: OneZo, Go Topoki (Round 3) + Karaoke

6/5/2018

Read Part 1 HERE !
Concluding the excursion was a trip to North York - the "uptown Koreatown" with Mainlander influence.

One Zo was the (absolutely necessary) first stop. Filling up one's bubble tea quota was a foolproof way of restoring soul and sanity.
Cactus Tapioca and Black Sesame Tapioca had unfortunately sold out for the day. Taro Tapioca Milk Tea and OneZo Oolong Milk Tea were chosen instead.

Originally having believed the Taro Tapioca Milk Tea to be plain Milk Tea with the addition of Taro Tapioca, I realized my imminent mistake when my order number was called out for a tall, blue-purple drink.  Taro Milk Tea is rarely my cup of tea, if ever, especially when crafted from an icky, synthetic flavour powder. No complaints could be reported in regard to the tapioca, but I had seriously wished to drain away the revolting liquid aspect. (Believe me, I contemplated the idea before being slapped with the harsh reality of its $6.19 price tag.)

The OneZo Oolong Milk Tea was deemed average. The tapioca earned a special mention, even if the contrast between Crystal, Mango, Caramel Tapioca was blurred.

Go Topoki prevailed as our pre-karaoke supper spot. It was the ideal compromise for orangecane's hankering for Korean food and my desire for a comfy, casual eatery. In addition, outlets were available for customer use, along with Wi-Fi to salvage our fangirling needs (Hehehe).

Soondae and Fish Cake Skewers were selected for sharing. The three-dollar Fish Roe Rice was picked to satisfy my moderate appetite, while the first-time visitor took to the ever-popular Rose Topoki with Bacon (and a dash of fieriness).

All items were delicious, albeit the soondae bearing a somewhat shriveled surface. The oden soup was spicier than I recalled but still fell within tolerance levels.

Truth be told: For majority of the visit, we were intensely conversing about fangirl-related topics while expressing joy/familiarity/surprise at the K-Pop playlist reverberating within the restaurant. Several DAY6 tunes, a mellow JBJ melody, one of my lovely dongsaeng's faves, and my all-time, life-changing anthem were recognized and sang to.

The waitress was an exceptional addition to the experience: not only was she polite, attentive, and intuitive, she was kind enough to provide me with a charging cable (I had forgotten mine at home) upon request.

As temperatures dropped sharply, we dove into Twister to belt our hearts out. 90 minutes and 20 dollars later, voices were strained and energy levels were low.

It was time to head home after an uber-productive day out.
