Having a sudden urge for something sweet following midday class propelled me into Westdale to hunt down a gelato place I had been told about earlier last term.
Though there wasn't indication on the sign outside, Valentino's served Italian pastries (such as cannoli) and gelato in addition to traditional Italian food. I ordered a small scoop of toasted almond gelato, which in my opinion, bore almost no resemblance to the taste of toasted almonds. Overlooking the fact that it was excessively sweet for such a small scoop, the crushed almonds embedded in the scoops did add a nice crunch to it.

Not too far from Valentino's was Conspiracy Comics, whose store was surprisingly deep.
The store was brightly lit inside, and featured Western comics in the front part of the store and anime-related items in the inner half.

A considerable number of popular manga titles lined the bookshelves, while plushies and t-shirts were distributed thoroughly about the far back section.
The prices were quite reasonable, actually; plushies ranged between $25-$30 (the convention standard) and t-shirts were between $20-$40 (again, the standard).
Though not pictured, a half-open crate of posters from popular anime series (such as 'Attack on Titan' and 'Sword Art Online') was propped up against the side of the cashier. Being sold for $4 each or 3 for $10, they were of unfathomably great quality and much, much lower that the convention standard pricing of $10 each.
On a different day, I also visited Comic Connection.

The interior was nowhere as clean or well-lit as Conspiracy, and instead of anime/popular series, Comic Connection primarily focused on trading cards and Western comics that were sough out through the ages.

I do believe that there is one more anime- / K-Pop store in the downtown area that I have yet to check out, but that shall be one of my future missions (when my workload lightens up)!
