Out & About #142 | Lunch-Hour Farmer's Market + Riggs & Murtaugh

Farmer's Markets are cool, and nothing could be cooler than having one right in on the border of Financial/Entertainment District(s) during lunch hour.

Only open for a few hours to cater to famished office workers from the surrounding area, the market offered a variety of hot dishes such as crepes and sausage rolls, homemade baked goods, locally-grown fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh flowers, and unique cheeses.

I had already eaten lunch prior to my short adventure, and wasn't exactly in the mood for carrying back a heavy load of peaches on the commute back (even if they did appear ripe and extremely juicy).

Instead, I set about to roam the area, and soon came face-to-face with The Burger's Priest.

Boy, was it packed! The restaurant consisted of two floors, with each level fitting in as many two-person tables as possible without creating a fire hazard. Considering that I had entered the restaurant in the thick of the lunch rush, I suppose it came as no surprise that the lineup was at least ten people long, almost stretching to the top of the stairs.

The menu, though hoisted quite high up, was partially blocked from view for the majority of my wait. The other customers in line towered above me, so it wasn't until I was next in line that I could finally decipher the names and descriptions of their entire selection of burgers and drinks.

Despite the long lines and chaotic atmosphere, the girl at the cashier was friendly and showed no signs of impatience whatsoever. I found it mind-blowing how she was still able to hear my inquisitive voice over the excited chatter of takeout and dine-in customers, but she did, and pertinently answered all my questions regarding the ingredients of the shakes with swiftness.

Weighing out the appeal of each individual option, I ultimately chose Riggs & Murtaugh - a shake comprised of vanilla ice cream blended with chocolate milk. It was delivered to me in less than three minutes, and totally hit the spot!

The fifteen- to twenty-minute wait for food was not attractive in any way, but I would like to try their more calorie-intensive savoury items at some point in the future. (And if it comes with sweet potato fries, then even better!)
