Foraging for places serving afternoon snacks is a common thing to do. Seeing as a significant number of self-proclaimed "food explorers" have served up images on Instagram, and that I myself am a huge fan of Hong Kong-style egg waffles, I was more than motivated to check out the new kid on the block, Toast Delight.
Prices were standard - $3 for one set, and $5 for two. We ordered Green Tea and Chocolate Egg Waffles.

It turns out that the "restaurant" I had expected to take on the same size and concept as Vancouver's The Bubble Tea Shop was nothing more than a hole in the wall on the second floor of Langham Place. There was merely enough room for two waffle pans, a counter with three bar seats - er stools - and two shelves to stash ingredients.
The walls were a solid, patternless white, and nothing but a few sheets of paper had been posted up against the glass walls. The store name was nowhere to been on the exterior, but could be seen on the inside, printed simply on a white sheet of paper and stuck to a wooden board.

The problem with most egg waffles is that they fail to remain crisp after being removed from the pan. The case for the sets from Toast Delight was the complete opposite - these ones kept their shape, but were hard as rocks once cooled. Lost was the lovely, soft puffiness on the inside; it had instead been replaced with excessive firmness and a lack of flavour. There was no hint of vanilla in the chocolate chip-filled ones, nor any green tea flavour in the other. These would be the ideal snack to keep you feeling full, but not the authentic type of egg waffles I would enjoy snacking on.
The one thing I did enjoy, however, was that the vendor had been generous with the chocolate chips in the Chocolate-flavoured Egg Waffle. Unlike Dong Dong on the upper level of Pacific Mall, chocolate chips could be found in each piece.
To rid our mouths of the egg waffle awkwardness, we headed one floor down to zenQ.
The one thing I did enjoy, however, was that the vendor had been generous with the chocolate chips in the Chocolate-flavoured Egg Waffle. Unlike Dong Dong on the upper level of Pacific Mall, chocolate chips could be found in each piece.

This one was much, much larger than its location in North York: it was well-lit and boasted nicer decor details. The menu and level of service were identical, though it took a bit longer for our dessert to emerge.
The initial plan was to just grab a few drinks and go, but we ended up staying for dessert in the end.
A Tofu Pudding w/ Red Bean in a cup was ordered, along with a Honey Green Tea Limenade and an odd-tasting Lychee Black Tea w/ Coconut Jelly (not pictured). I also had the opportunity to try their best-selling Grass Jelly Shaved Ice w/ Grass Jelly, Tapioca, and Q-Balls. While the ice was more bland than expected, the grass jelly and tapioca were of the perfect texture. The Q-balls, though, were on the firmer side, and did not contain as much flavour as the other location.
Nonetheless, there's nothing stopping me from returning to the this one, especially when such great lighting available throughout the restaurant. (Just kidding, but you get the point.)
