On this particular trip to Markham, we explored both Main St. Markham (for its Farmer's Market and interesting little shops) and Main St. Unionville (for the more independent shops it had to offer).
The lunchplace of choice was, once again, discovered via a brief Instagram search and was located just a bit further down Main Street.
Majority of the listings, especially the most popular items, were either spicy or contained some element capable of causing a fiery breath. Not everyone is a fan of spicy food, and this was a place that chose to disregard this specific dietary preference.
Our server wasn't particularly friendly either - a short, blunt "There are." was shot in our direction upon inquiring about spice-less food options. "The burgers aren't spicy. The salads aren't spicy." we were told.
But what if we don't like heavily battered-up, greasy fried chicken on a bun? Are we at a lack of options then? Apparently so.
We settled for a Pulled Pork Club Sandwich, Chilled Hanoi Beef Salad, and Duck Tacos in the end.
They hadn't been too generous with the minced duck pieces (who puts minced duck instead of actual slices of duck in a taco anyways?!), nor was the citrus salsa flavour as evident as the menu description had implied it to be.
The Pulled Pork Sandwich was even more of a disappointment - grease could be seen oozing out from the bun onto your fingers even with a slight touch; the pork wasn't tender either. Oh, and the fries? They were well seasoned, but rapidly became a soggy, salty mess.
The only decent dish of the afternoon was the Hanoi Chilled Beef Salad, which actually contained slices of beef deemed tender and flavourful.
